2026/10 - From Production Metrics to Management Decisions (Lisa Kretschmer - IO Interactive)

Every production runs on numbers: velocity, bug counts, build stability, milestone burndown. Far fewer teams can say which of those numbers should actually change a decision. This two-day course takes participants from raw production data to defensible management calls. Working on real dashboards from two project stages, they learn to separate signal from noise, to reframe the same data for developers, producers and executives, and to spot the biases that distort judgement under pressure. They leave with a practical framework for deciding when the data is incomplete, which is most of the time. October 6th & 7th - 9:00am-1:00pm every day (CET Time) - Remote training (GR1) October 13th & 14th - 9:00am-1:00pm every day every day (CET Time) - Remote training (GR2) I - Production metrics : types, definitions, examples II - Metrics & target audience III - From metrics to decisions IV - Forecasting, biases & judgement V - Where AI can help VI - Decision-making with imperfect information

Objectifs de la formation

  • Classify production metrics across four core categories - delivery, quality, team health and predictability -, and identify where each one originates in their own pipeline.
  • Assess whether a metric is decision-useful or noise, and adapt its reading to the audience at hand: developers, producers or executive stakeholders.
  • Separate decision quality from outcome quality, and evaluate a past call on the strength of its reasoning rather than on the result it happened to produce.
  • Detect early warning signals and blind spots by reading weak signals in combination rather than in isolation, and situate each risk within their own sphere of influence.
  • Name and counter the biases that most affect production forecasting: planning fallacy, optimism, confirmation, availability, sunk cost, survivorship and escalation of commitment.
  • Apply a structured method to decide under incomplete information: state what is known, name the blind spots, weigh the risk, commit, and set an explicit review point.
