2026/11 - Agentic Prototyping for Designers (Stone Librande)

From idea to playable prototype in four sessions. What if you could turn a game idea into working software in hours, not weeks? In this hands-on course, you'll learn to put AI agents to work across your design process: writing design proposals, building interactive documentation, and rapidly testing the mechanics and systems that make or break a game. From November 2nd to November 5th 2026 from 03:30 pm to 05:30 pm (CET) (GR1) From November 9th to November 12th 2026 from 03:30 pm to 05:30 pm (CET) (GR1)

Objectifs de la formation

  • Configure and operate the tools needed to work productively on AI projects in a structured and safe sandbox.
  • Efficiently convert abstract ideas to tangible software.
  • Analyze and iterate on core game concepts by building dashboards and debug panels.
  • Communicate ideas to teammates by combining written documentation with interactive examples.
  • Become self-sufficient, leveraging LLMs to generate tutorials and step-by-step instructions for solving complex problems that invariably arise during game development.

Profil des bénéficiaires

Pour qui
  • Game designers (both professionals and independents) that are curious about integrating AI tools and processes into their existing workflow.
Prérequis
  • Students are expected to have designed and built at least one digital game.
  • A thorough understanding of the development pipeline (design→ prototype→ preproduction→ production→ launch→ support).
  • Experience communicating across disciplines and serving the competing needs of various teams (engineering, marketing, art, etc.)
  • Knowledge of programming in any language is helpful, but not required

Contenu de la formation

Day 1: Getting started
  • Set up your agentic environment and build your first game.
  • Goal: create a simple game in JavaScript that runs in your web browser.
Day 2: Interactive design documentation
  • Turn an idea into a clear, shareable game design, within a tight set of constraints.
  • Goal: write a design document for your proposed game, then create a presentation with interactive explanations and illustrations to show to the class.
Day 3: Rapid prototyping of risky features
  • Test what could go wrong before it costs you time.
  • Goal: identify the unproven or potentially problematic features in your game proposal, choose one, and try to derisk it with a simple prototype built using custom tools.
Day 4: Sharebacks and final learnings
  • Play, compare and learn from each other's work.
  • Goal: play your classmates' prototypes and discuss what worked, what didn't, and where to go next.

Équipe pédagogique

Stone Librande, a Senior Designer in the R&D group at Riot Games, has worked in the video game industry for 25 years on games such as SimCity, Spore, and Diablo. In addition to his full-time job designing video games, he also teaches game design courses at Carnegie Mellon University’s ETC program and runs design seminars around the world. An avid board game inventor, Stone has published two games: "Mechs vs. Minions" and "Alakazam! The Game of Dueling Wizards".

Suivi de l'exécution et évaluation des résultats

  • Practical exercises and periodic quizzes throughout the day to reinforce and check understanding.

Ressources techniques et pédagogiques

  • Participants are welcomed into a dedicated virtual training room accessible via video conferencing, ensuring a consistent and interactive learning environment throughout the session.
  • Training content is shared on-screen in real time, combining theoretical presentations with practical case studies to reinforce understanding through applied examples. Interactive exchanges and Q&A moments are encouraged throughout to support engagement at a distance.
  • All training materials are made available online following the session, allowing participants to revisit key concepts and consolidate their learning at their own pace.
