Learn how to bring characters to life through nuanced, intentional performance. This masterclass explores non-verbal language, emotional depth, and acting principles to help you craft more expressive, believable animations. From mindset to movement, discover how to direct and refine performances that truly resonate with audiences. Objectifs de la formation

  • Develop a deeper understanding of advanced nonverbal communication to recognize how subtle behavioral cues influence the perception of performance
  • Analyze behavioral nuance and emotional mechanics, including what occurs before, during, and after an emotional response (e.g., regulation, containment)
  • Expand gesture literacy by refining nonverbal vocabulary and grammar to communicate complex emotional states with greater precision and nuance
  • Apply acting principles to animation, including intention, subtext, and authentic performance grounded in human behavior
  • Strengthen performance directing skills (keyframe, mocap, AI) by shaping behavior through intention-based direction and avoiding result-driven approaches
  • Develop facial behavior analysis skills to identify subtle expressions and use facial feedback to support ongoing observation and independent learning

Équipe pédagogique

Gino Vincelli graduated from UQAC, where he earned a Master’s degree in Arts and Literature in 2013. He also holds a diploma from the Cinema and Television program at NAD Centre (1996), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UQAM (1986). He teaches courses in Acting and Directing Virtual Actors. Bringing virtual characters to life and exploring the role of empathy in performance are at the core of his expertise and passion. Previously, Gino Vincelli worked on various 3D television series, including The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest by Hanna-Barbera at Image Buzz in Montreal, as well as on a 3D children’s series in the Netherlands. He also spent seven years working in the Education and Training department at Softimage.
